Terms of service

Here's both, in your voice but covering the legal-protection bases. I'd suggest these become two dedicated pages on your site (linked from your footer alongside the Return Policy).


Damages & Issues

If something I sent doesn't arrive the way it should, I want to know — and I want to fix it. This section covers exactly what to do.


If your package arrives damaged:

  1. Take photos before you do anything else. Photograph the outside of the package (especially any visible damage to the box or envelope), then photograph the contents. The photos matter more than the description — they tell me what happened in shipping and let me file a claim with USPS if needed.
  2. Email me at kael@kaelvon.com within 7 days of delivery. Include:
    • Your order number
    • Photos of the damage (outside packaging + contents)
    • A short note about what arrived damaged
  3. Don't throw the packaging away. Keep it for at least 30 days in case USPS needs to inspect.
  4. I'll respond within 2 business days with next steps. Depending on what was damaged, that means either a replacement, a partial refund, or a full refund — your choice in most cases.

You don't need to mail the damaged item back. The shipping isn't worth either of our time.


If your package never arrives:

USPS marks packages "delivered" the moment a scan happens, but sometimes packages take 1–3 extra days to actually appear in your mailbox. So please:

  1. Wait 3 business days after the "delivered" notification before assuming it's lost — packages often turn up.
  2. Check with neighbors and your local post office — sometimes packages get scanned at the wrong address.
  3. If it still hasn't shown up after 3 days, email me at kael@kaelvon.com with your order number.
  4. I'll work with you on a replacement or refund. For Print Club envelopes specifically, I'll send a replacement free of charge.

If you receive the wrong item:

Mistakes happen, especially while I'm packing 50 envelopes at the kitchen table on ship day. Email me with your order number and a photo of what you received, and I'll send the correct item right away. You can keep the wrong one as a small surprise from the studio.


If a Print Club envelope is missing something:

Each envelope should contain a print, a letter, a recipe card, and (occasionally) a small extra. If something's missing, email me within 7 days of delivery with your order number and what's missing. I'll mail the missing piece on its own, free of charge.


International shipments held in customs:

International shipping can take up to 21 business days. If your package is held in customs longer than 30 days, email me — I'll work with you on a replacement or refund.

Customs duties and import fees, if any, are the recipient's responsibility and vary by country.


The bottom line:

Whatever the issue, my goal is to make it right. I'm a one-person business and I'm doing my best, but when something goes wrong I'd rather hear from you than have you quietly never order again. Email me. I'll fix it.

Welcome — and thank you for being here. This page covers the basics of how the kaelvon.com shop and Sweet & Savory Print Club work. I've tried to write it the way I write everything else: simply, honestly, and in plain English. By using this site or making a purchase, you're agreeing to what's below.


Who I am

This shop is run by Kael Von, a one-person LLC based in New York. All artwork, prints, recipe cards, and letters are made by me. You can reach me at kael@kaelvon.com.


Who can buy

You need to be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to make a purchase. By placing an order, you're confirming the information you provide is accurate.


About the products

I make every effort to photograph paintings and prints accurately, but slight color variation between your screen and the actual artwork is normal. Each computer screen and phone displays color a little differently, and oil paint behaves differently in different light. If a piece arrives looking significantly different from what's pictured, that falls under my Damages & Issues policy and I'll make it right.

Each original oil painting is one-of-a-kind. I don't make duplicates.


Pricing & payment

All prices on the site are in US dollars. Payment is due at checkout. I accept major credit cards and other payment methods supported by Shopify.

I reserve the right to update pricing at any time. The price you pay is the price shown on the site at the moment you check out.

Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address.


Sweet & Savory Print Club subscription terms

By joining the Print Club, you agree to the following:

  • Your subscription automatically renews each month until you cancel.
  • You'll be billed on the 20th of each month at the rate shown when you signed up ($9 USD for U.S. addresses, $12 USD for international addresses).
  • You can cancel any time from your account page on kaelvon.com. There are no fees and no minimum commitment.
  • Cancellations made before the 20th apply to the following month. Cancellations made after the 20th apply to the month after that (the upcoming envelope is already in production).
  • I reserve the right to discontinue the Print Club with 30 days' written notice, in which case any prepaid months will be refunded.

Shipping

I ship within 5 business days of an order being placed (originals and prints) or on the 25th of each month (Print Club envelopes). Shipping times vary by destination and method. See the FAQ for typical delivery windows.

Once an order ships, the carrier (USPS or other) is responsible for delivery. I'm not responsible for shipping delays caused by the carrier, customs, weather, or other factors outside my control — but I'll always work with you to resolve issues.


Returns & refunds

See the Return & Refund Policy for full details. Short version: original paintings and prints are final sale, but anything that arrives damaged or never arrives gets replaced or refunded.


Intellectual property

All artwork, prints, recipe cards, letters, photos, and written content on this site are © Kael Von and may not be reproduced, resold, redistributed, or used commercially without my written permission.

When you buy a print or original painting, you're buying the physical artwork — not the rights to reproduce it. You're welcome to display it in your home, gift it, or sell it secondhand, but you cannot reproduce it (digitally or physically), use it for commercial purposes, or claim authorship.

This applies to everything you receive, including Print Club envelopes.


User conduct

By using this site, you agree not to:

  • Use the site for fraudulent or unlawful purposes
  • Attempt to disrupt, hack, or interfere with the site
  • Use any automated tools to scrape or copy content
  • Misrepresent yourself or your information

I reserve the right to refuse service or cancel orders at my discretion if I believe these terms are being violated.


Disclaimer of warranties

The site and products are provided "as is." I make no guarantees beyond what's stated here and in my Refund and Damages policies. To the extent allowed by law, I disclaim all other warranties, express or implied.


Limitation of liability

In any case where I'm liable for something, my liability is limited to the total amount you paid for the order in question. I won't be liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.


Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes will be handled in New York courts.


Changes to these terms

I may update these terms occasionally. The most current version is always at kaelvon.com/pages/terms-of-service. By continuing to use the site after changes are posted, you agree to the updated terms.
