Behind the Scenes of My Monthly Art Mail Club
Share
Yours Truly Club starts long before an envelope reaches the mailbox. It begins with a painting—and usually with a studio that looks significantly less organized than the finished mail suggests.
First, I make the artwork
I am an oil painter, and I do not force every month into one rigid style. The subject may be a bright still life, a playful animal, a seasonal idea, or whatever has been following me around creatively.
That unpredictability is part of the club. Members are not subscribing to a factory template; they are following the real movement of an artist's studio.
The painting becomes a print
Once the artwork is finished, I photograph or scan it carefully and prepare it for print. Color matters enormously to me, so I pay close attention to whether the reproduction still carries the energy of the original.
The monthly centerpiece is a 5x7 print: small enough to display easily, collect in a box, tuck onto a shelf, or rotate throughout the year.
Then come the extras
The artwork becomes the starting point for the rest of the envelope. I make stickers, magnets, mini prints, or other paper pieces depending on the month. I also include a rotating recipe or poem card.
The point is not to pack the envelope with random filler. Each piece should feel connected to the art, the season, or the letter.
I write the letter
The handwritten letter is what turns the subscription into Yours Truly. It is where I talk about the work, the business, the messy middle, and life beyond a polished social-media caption.
I am a former labor and delivery nurse, a working mom, and an artist building a profitable creative career from scratch. I do not want the club to pretend that process is effortless. The letter makes room for the real version.
Everything gets packed and mailed
I assemble the pieces, address the envelopes, add postage, and mail the domestic and international memberships from Upstate New York. The goal is simple: when someone opens it, they should feel that another person made this specifically enough to matter.
Why I keep doing it
Yours Truly is built around a belief that art should be seen, art should be attainable, and artists should be paid. A monthly envelope turns that belief into something physical.
If you want to receive the next one, you can join Yours Truly Club here. International memberships are available through the international club page.
Yours truly,
